Q: What sets you apart from other newborn photographers?

A: Newborn photography is an art in and of itself. With that being said each artist has their own unique style and perspective. It’s similar to asking, what’s the difference between Michelangelo and Da Vinci? I think my background also sets me apart from other artists. I’m the oldest girl in a large family of eleven, I was brought up taking care of babies. Learning the different cries and how they communicate in their own way. This has translated in how I work with babies. Each baby is different but they all communicate the same way. Patience is the key to any masterpiece.

As a photographer I have over nine years of experience. I knew I wanted to specialize in newborn photography. I took workshops and classes in newborn safety, posing, and editing. Once I established the basics of newborn photography I worked diligently to hone my craft and find my own style. I love warm lighting and earthy tones as I learned to shape light I also started to incorporated natural elements like fresh flowers to my images.

Another aspect that I believe sets me apart, is the amount of time an effort I invest into each one of my clients. I spend several months stylizing and prepping for each session. I offer a premium service and want my clients to feel like VIPs each time. I strive to make life long relationships with each client.

Q: When should I schedule my newborn session?

A: I recommend booking your newborn session anytime after your second trimester. I tend to book out in advance when it comes to my newborn session openings. I try to be fairly flexible to accommodate my clients who have babies who arrive before their due date, or if their little ones need a NICU stay.

Q: What’s the best age to take my newborn photos?

A:
I typically schedule my newborn sessions between 4-14 days after baby is born. This give my families time to settle into a routine and to get established after bringing the newest addition home.

If baby has already been born, please contact me as soon as possible to schedule your session. I try to keep my schedule flexible for my newborn sessions and may be able to squeeze you in.

Q: When should I schedule my maternity session?

A. I like to schedule maternity sessions when mom is between 29-34 weeks. This time frame is ideal to ensures a perfect baby bump, and is not too far into the pregnancy where mom uncomfortable. Maternity sessions are at moms pace, and is a time for mom to feel pampered and cherished. If mom is high-risk, I like to have her doctor approve her session before proceeding with the booking. However I do accommodate high-risk pregnancies with a shorter session running time and minimal walking.

Q: What do I wear to my session?

A: Helping you stylize your session is all part of the service I provide. With all my session I spend time with you to have an understanding of what you are envisioning. For family and couple sessions I will help you put together an inspiration page based on where your session is located, the esthetic you are wanting to achieve and a color pallet.

For your maternity session I offer a client closet with a verity of designer gowns. You have access to my client closet at no extra charge when you book a session with me.

For your newborn session I will help you stylize your full session from backdrops to wraps. Your stylization will absolutely include parents wardrobe. I do recommend neutral colored, simple fitted tops, if your session has a theme or color scheme I can help stylize outfits in complementing colors.

Q: How many setups are in a newborn session?

A: a full newborn session will have at least 2-3 prop sets and 2-3 baby backdrops plus family poses. In our session consolation and stylization we will go over color schemes and themes for your session. This will help me stylize your prop poses and narrow down your backdrop color selection.

Q: What if my baby won’t sleep or is unsettled?

A: Your baby will be fussy, that is how they communicate. They will cry if they are hungry, have a dirty diaper or are sleepy. Thats just part of working with babies! But please let me reassure you that I will make sure baby is fed, clean and dry before the session begins. I will try all the tricks I know. I use white noise, have a tempter controlled studio, pacifiers if needed, and encourage moms to feed as needed. But at the end of the day the Baby runs the show, and they’re my little bosses. If baby is awake then I will work with baby and do safe poses for awake babies. After while I will then wrapped baby and comforted them back to sleep. Only babies that are in a deep sleep can be unwrapped and posed in most newborn poses.

Please try to have reasonable expectations for your precious baby as they are adapting to their new environment, and be patient with yourself as new parents! The main thing is getting beautiful photos, not forcing your baby to do poses they’re not comfortable doing. If your baby is crying and we can’t settle them, we will discuss rescheduling.

Q: When will I select my images and how many photos will I have to choose from?

A: One to two days after your session I will post or send you a preview images. This preview image will be what you can expect your final images to look like. A week after you session I will send you a soft proofing gallery of at 40-60 images for you to select your final images from. At this point if there are additional images you would like to purchase you can do so when I present you with your soft proofing gallery.

Q: Do I order print and canvas though you?

A: While it’s not a requirement, if you do want prints or canvas I do recommend you order through me. I’m partnered with a professional photo lab that my computer monitor has been calibrated to, to ensure the most accurate coloring. I also have virtual wall displays where I can help build a collage with the images you would like to have printed so that you can see them laid out before you order them!

Prints and canvas are very important to me and most of my packages include prints because I believe that you invested in art and art should be tangible and not just stored on a computer.

Q: How do I reserve my session date?

A: Once you contact me to book your session, I will confirm the my availability and send you a questionnaire where we will finalize your selected date. Once a date is agreed upon I will email you a contract and invoice and the booking fee of $150 will be required to secure your session. Because births are unpredictable, your session is flexible and can be moved to accommodate the birth of your little one.

If you do cancel within four days prior to your session, a reschedule fee of $150 will be required to secure the next available spot. I offer a limited amount of newborn sessions each month. I will check in with you about 7 days before our session via email to check if baby has been born, you will need to allow a few days at home to rest before coming to the studio.
